Tech stock among the biggest movers

Today’s markets were shaky as they continue to figure out the value and fallout from the Greek bailout and the jobless situation in the US. There’s certainly a flight to safety going on right now that has seen money flow out of equities and into US $ and treasuries. This has also had an impact on the Canadian Dollar as well driving it ever closer to parity. The CAD/USD trade may only be a short term trend until the market figures out what is happening with America and Greece. When the appetite for risk returns it’s conceivable that we will see another rise in the Canadian dollar. Of course this isn’t a forex blog!

One of the small cap stocks we’ve followed this year continues to have market interest and is a big mover volume wise on the TSX-V. Intertainment (INT.V) had a significant run up at the beginning of the year and has since retreated to lower levels now trading in the $0.60 range. Their product Ortsbo is the one to watch.

Ortsbo announced that its world famous real time translation application is moving to cloud to support viral growth. Built on the Microsoft Windows Azure platform, Ortsboâ€™s new HTML alpha platform will allow the users to connect initially to Facebook, MSN and Google GTalk. Other social networks will be implemented quickly on the new platform, the company said in a press release. source: TMCnet

Canadian Penny Stocks This Week

This past week had the TSX taking a sizable haircut of 400 points over the week. This past week though the Canadian Penny stocks blog did share part 1 of a list of Rare Earth stocks to consider. Only those on the mailing received it though. Penny Stocks To Watch This Week

This pas week had some mixed performances but oil, gold and the Canadian dollar continue to again be stories to watch. Something that will be very interesting to watch this week is the fallout from the New York Stock Exchange rejecting the bid from NASDAQ in favor of support the Deutsche Boerse.

Another 5-day trading week where stocks moved higher. What’s more is the Canadian dollar, oil, and gold all putting in solid performances as well. What does this mean for penny stocks? There are many Canadian penny stocks that focus on gold and oil. These will be your primary area of focus. The additional consideration however is that the Canadian dollar is so high it may impact the profitability of the company if they are primarily an exporter of goods from Canada. Keep that in mind with your research.

Here are the performances from last week:
PTA.V â€“ $0.34 – $0.23 – has been a longer term down trend so I probably shouldn’t have put this as a watch. Lesson learned.
DOG.V â€“ $0.415 – $0.39

For this week we’re going to again focus on rare earth companies. As the price of oil climbs more people will again be considering fuel saving mechanisms and rare earths are needed in many new energy saving technologies.

This week’s recap and stocks to watch is going to be a quick one. Headquarters of the Canadian Penny Stocks blog has moved over the weekend and there are a lot of unpacked boxes still left to be opened. Here are the stocks from last week:

In the last penny stocks update there were 5 penny stock ideas as opposed to the usual 3. All of the stocks featured had an outstanding performance the week prior and it was a bit of a short term experiment to see if taking those stocks and seeing if gains could be added on in another week. This past week was a wild ride but did end up higher overall for the TSX. Here’s how the penny stocks mentioned have performed.

PLL-X 1.23 – 1.28 (+4%)
OPL-X 1.05 – 1.13 (+7.6%)
CFM-X 0.81 – 0.86 (+6%)
HDA-X 1.54 – 1.72 (11.6%)
WER-X 0.68 – 0.61 (-10%)

4 out of 5 stocks in the green is not that bad of a performance considering the high risk associated with penny stocks. There is potential out there to outperform the markets. Here are three more Canadian Penny Stocks that you might want to look into:

This past week was a rough one on the stock market without question and the penny stocks mentioned here took some pain as well. So let’s get straight to the pain:

SLX.V â€“ $0.98 – $0.85 (-13%)
WPX.TO â€“ $1.46 – $1.27 (-13%)
BIO.V â€“ $1.60 – $1.50 (-6%)

Down turns can be a good opportunity to see if stocks are just following the crowd downward or actually are being negatively impacted by some news. If a company is delivering good news in bad times and the stock continues to be beaten up, it could be a bargain. Be greedy when others are fearful and fearful when others are greedy.

The great thing about penny stocks is that there are always exceptional performers even during bad days. Here are 5 penny stocks that performed great over the past 5 days:

Penny Stocks Review

Overall negative performing week on the Toronto Stock Exchange, based a lot of the political instability of the Arab world. There are many Canadian resource companies operating in Libya for example that have been hit hard by these events. But for now we just hope that the loss of lives ends and there can be a peaceful resolution. And we can see how the stocks performed this past week:

SFF.V $0.42 – $0.435
GUL.V $0.045 – $0.045
AAA.V $1.74 – $1.69

SFF was the only winner this week and it had performed even better if you were watching it mid-week. The others weren’t so successful, but considering the run AAA has had over the past several months, a stall in price movement is expected and may be forming a new base. Here are three to watch this week:

CWY.V – $0.07
SSL.V – $0.91

Hello everyone and welcome to another penny stock review post! This past week was a mixed bag performance on the markets with the week ending markedly lower. From a technical perspective the markets can still handle a few hundred points slide before hitting support levels, so the rough times may continue. As for our penny stock picks, here is how they performed:

PPI.V â€“ $0.74 – $0.95 (+22%) (hit a high of $1.77 during the week)
INT.V â€“ $0.49 – $0.53 (+7.5%)
NII.TO â€“ $0.81 – $0.87 (+7%)

More proof that penny stocks don’t always follow the trend. This is a good thing for us this week considering the fact that we’re hitting some serious high notes here with all three stocks making nice moves forward this week. Need three more ideas?

Canadian Penny Stocks This Week

A great week to be an investor in Canadian stocks! A strong performance overall for the week, just a bit of a downer on Friday but nothing to worry too much about. Very interesting to look at the prices of the stocks that were mentioned last week. The green certainly out-weighing the red. There will likely continue some focus on AAA this week so keep an eye on that one again.

QEI.V â€“ $0.14 – $0.135 (-4%)
GEM.V â€“ $0.40 – $0.485 (+21%)
