CB Gold Announces $11 Million Non-Brokered Private Placement

CB Gold Inc. (TSX-V: CBJ) (“CB Gold” or the “Company”) announces that it has arranged for a non-brokered private placement of 10,000,000 units (the “Units”) at a price of Cdn$1.10 per Unit

The Company has agreed to pay a finders’ fee of Cdn$330,000, payable in common shares of the Company to be issued at market price at the date of closing of the private placement.

CB Gold intends to use the proceeds from the private placement to fund exploration and development at the Company’s Colombian properties, working capital and general corporate purposes.

“We are very pleased to announce this financing and strengthen our relationship with Lumina, a group with a very successful track-record, such as their investment in near-by Ventana Gold. This transaction is extremely positive for the Company moving forward, and will allow us to continue expanding the newly discovered high-grade zone at Real Minera” commented Fabio Capponi, CB Gold’s CEO.

CB Gold Company Description

CB Gold Inc. is engaged in the business of mineral exploration in Colombia, South America. CB Gold has one wholly owned subsidiary, Cedar Business Investment Ltd. (Cedar), and Cedar has one wholly owned subsidiary, Leyhat Corporation (Leyhat). Both Cedar and Leyhat were acquired by CB Gold on July 20, 2009. Leyhat has one branch in Colombia, Leyhat Colombia Sucursal, which holds its interest in the Norte de Santander Gold Project and the Vetas Gold Project. The Norte de Santander Gold Project and the Vetas Gold Project are referred to as the Colombia Projects. As of December 31, 2010, it held the rights to explore and develop two exploration properties in Colombia totalling approximately 62,000 hectares. On October 28, 2010, CB Gold and First Source Resources Inc. completed the Amalgamation. In connection with the Amalgamation, CB Gold Inc., the predecessor company (Private CB Gold), and First Source ceased to exist and the amalgamated company continued under the name CB Gold Inc.

The Process of Gold Mining

Gold has always been the pearl of great price. Ever since gold was first mined in Kolar Gold Field of Karnataka state in India, the desire to see and use more of it has seized the hearts of men. Although gold enjoys a lot of patronage in the making of jewels, it has weaved itself even into technological gadgets like phones.

Before technology came to maturity, gold mining used to be instrumented with hoes and other tools with the ability to till the earth, which may be closely followed by the Panning process. This was mainly because the rush was not yet, so gold deposits were not far-fetched. But the process of gold mining has become a more complex one these days as the need and value of it is always on the increase.

Modern gold mining begins with prospecting by Geologists. The use of geological maps come handy, and geologist must have to study the chemical and physical properties of rocks to determine the presence and quantity of gold. Once that is Okayed around a particular area, there must be need to employ the expertise of geochemists, and geophysicists; coupled with airborne and remote sensing to enable drill testing of a sample.

The purpose of drilling is to take rock samples to examine for the presence, quantity, size, and quality of gold around the area. At this point, mining engineers are called upon to ascertain the type of mining to be employed, the physical obstructions to surmount before getting to the gold; and the environmental implications of erecting a mine in the area. The kind of mine depends on the depth at which the gold deposit is buried. If it is close to the surface, the miners will make an open-pit mine, but if deep down, they will have to make an underground mine.

Samples of the ore are taken to a metallurgist who goes through it to determine the processing method that would be used. For example, if the ore is a low graded one, the process will just involve the application of cyanide to help dissolve the gold before it is collected. But if the ore is of a high grade, it will be sent to a grinding mill for more extensive processing. On the other hand, if the ore was a Sulphide ore, it is allowed to oxidize in a sterilizer or autoclave to remove the sulphide, but a refractory ore is roasted at a high temperature to allow for smooth burning of the carbon and sulphide, after which it is taken to a leaching circuit.

When in the leaching circuit, gold extraction from the solution takes place, and is then chemically stripped by applying it on activated carbon. Since the gold gotten at this stage does contain up to 10% of impurities, they are transported to a refinery for further processing after being melted into a special kind of bar.

At the refinery, the impurities are converted into metallic chlorides so they can easily wash off of gold. The remaining deposit is now 99.5% pure gold, which is then put into electrolytic cells after being cast into anodes. By the application of electrolysis on the gold electrode, further purification takes place leaving the final result to be gold deposit of up to 99.99% purity.

After all this is done over the years around a particular area, the reclamation process must follow so as to give back to the land.

Discovering Gold Juniors

Thereâ€™s been a lot talk around gold lately, but where is it going to next? The price of gold has come off of hits all-time highs and has many people looking to find support while others saying itâ€™s the end of the gold bull run. They say it takes both sides to make a market and the reality is likely something in between.

Looking quickly at the chart there seems to be a few support levels at around 1320 so keep an eye on that. I would expect to see a bounce off of those support levels and to move back towards 1400 again. Time will tell.

How About Some Gold Penny Stocks?

This isnâ€™t a gold blog; itâ€™s a penny stocks blog, so why talk about the price of gold without mentioning a few gold juniors for you to look at:

Eastmain Resource (ER.TO) trading at $1.70 focuses on Canadian exploration. This stock has come off its highs and seems to be trending downward but is bouncing around a support level right now. The next level of support is around the $1.50 mark. Itâ€™s thinly traded these days so may be tough to get in to.

High River Gold (HRG.TO) trading at $1.24 is more internationally focused but trades in Canada. They have interests in producing mines as well as exploration projects. The stock price is a bit jumpy in this one, with yoyo moves from about $1.15 back to $1.40 a few times in the past months but theyâ€™ve recently had some movement in their board of directors, so after giving them some time to adjust keep them in your sights.

Trade Winds Ventures (TWD.V) trading at $0.36 focuses on Canadian gold exploration in BC and Ontario. They have a project in the Abitibi Greenstone belt in North-eastern Ontario, a prolific gold mining region which has produced over 65% of Canadaâ€™s gold. The price of this stock has been moving in the right direction of the past 6 months and its recent pullback mirrors that of gold.

There you have it. Three gold juniors that you may want to look at as penny stock plays on the price of gold. These companies have the chance to appreciate based on the price of gold and on their own growth prospects so really itâ€™s a win-win if theyâ€™re able to produce the goods.

Belo Sun Mining (BSX.V)

The Belo Sun Mining company is one that has been mentioned recently on the Penny Stocks to Watch and has had some recent media attention and a nice run up in price over the past few months from lows of $0.41 to the current price of $0.82 after its recent pullback. So who exactly is Belo Sun Mining? They’re formerly known as Verena Minerals Corporation and there website is still located at: www.verena.com.

The company is a Canadian based mineral exploration company with a portfolio of properties including gold and Alexandrite gemstones in Brazil. Brazil is a great country to be in at this point in time considering the political stability compared with some other nations where mining companies operate. The other great thing to consider here is the current prices for gold make gold mining stocks attractive. Belo Sun currently has 2.2 million ounces of gold resource in their Volte-Grande project. It’s 100% owned, Brazil-based project.

How Far Will Gold Go?

As with any moves in the stock market people have different views of where things are going.Â Here’s a chart from hotstockmarket.com.Â It shows that resistance but breaking through resistance could move the price as high as 1300.Â Personally I’m not sure if another 30% appreciation is possible but that remains to be seen.
