Do you have an iPhone? If so, then you have, in the palm of your hand, a great platform for building up the information you need to know to be a successful investor. There are a lot of business and finance apps available for the iPhone both paid and free. While the paid applications generally offer more features and functionality it’s not always the case so it’s worth reading the features list and reviews before purchasing.

So how can these applications help you profit from investing?
Being informed at all times, and making informed investing decisions. Even with the “Stocks” application that comes packaged with the iPhone it is easy to track the prices of stocks on a day to day basis and even has basic news, and charts available to see how your investments are doing.

Here are two Free iPhone Apps that I’ve been using and have really out done themselves:

Bloomberg for iPhone

Tracks pretty much every stock market index out there, along with all major commodities, and currency pairs. Contains breaking news on the economy, the stock market and individual companies. The app also allows you to track stocks…even Canadian penny stocks! On the native iPhone application it was difficult to find Toronto Venture Exchange stocks.

The Bloomberg for iPhone app is on the first page of apps for me

The CNBC Real-Time Application

Another great application that will actually push breaking news notifications to you if you choose to see them which can make or break a swing trader. Very handy. They also deliver real-time quotes on US markets. Since this blog doesn’t track much in the way of US investing I haven’t compared, but would assume they’re living up to their name. Great to have the video feature as well.

These are only two of many investing applications available for the iPhone. Are there any that you use and can’t live without?
